The Cross Canada Canoe Odyssey was awarded the 2011 Expedition of the Year by the Royal Canadian Geographic Society. Through its expeditions program the Royal Canadian Geographic Society (RCGS) supports expeditions that help make Canada better known to Canadians and the world. Each year the RCGS selects one expedition that focuses on an especially pertinent issue. The 2011 RCGS Expedition of the Year grant is intended to focus on freshwater resources in Canada and has been generously financed by the Royal Bank of Canada’s Bluewater Foundation. The grant will help with the completion of the trip and fulfillment of the expedition’s outreach objectives. We are greatly honoured to have received the recognition and financial support associated with the RCGS Expedition of the Year Grant.
